Essential Opera and Nova Scotia composer/librettist Fiona M. Ryan bring you a spellbinding performance inspired by Macbeth. We reimagine the classic tragedy in the voices of Lady Macbeth, the Weird Sisters, and their goddess Hecate. In Her Hands is an atmospheric, eerie music theatre piece that weaves ancient musical traditions together with supernatural vocal colours. It tells the story of the women and queer-coded characters who are often relegated to the background, and explores themes of gender, power, and inclusion/exclusion.

Featuring a team of artists from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, NYC, Montreal, and Toronto, we aim to provide a welcoming, accessible environment for the artists and audience, accommodating varying accessibility needs at each performance. November 6 at 7:30pm: livestream and masks required, November 7 at 7:30pm: with ASL interpretation, November 8 at 2:30pm: relaxed performance (details to come). The show is in English with projected text.

Accessibility at the venue: parking in the rear lot can be reserved (contact us ahead of time - limited availability) at no charge for those with accessibility requirements. Please note, however, that there is a steep incline (and decline on return) along Victoria Road, leading to the Sanctuary Hall entrance on Ochterloney St.
Street parking is available in front of the Sanctuary Hall on Ochterloney St. Unfortunately, the curb is not cut directly in front of the building; we recommend parking closer to (or on) Dundas Street to avoid crossing the steep incline of Victoria Road. There are sidewalks on both sides of Ochterloney St. When arriving in a vehicle with a transport-to-curb ramp, you can use the loading zone to arrive directly at the Sanctuary Hall doors. Send us a message before the event, and we will reserve that space for you.
The hall can be accessed via a ramp at the front (Ochterloney St) entrance. The hall has an accessible washroom and various accessible seating options.
